With cyber attacks on the rise, this latest re-certification, alongside our Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001 Information Security Management certifications, reinforces Opencentric’s commitment to cyber security — both within our own business and for the organisations we support.

Opencentric has continuously held the standard since 2020. It covers five key areas of technical control: firewalls, secure configuration (devices and software), access control, malware protection, and patch management (software updates).

“Cyber security is not a one-off exercise; it is an ongoing, evolving commitment,” James Forbes Keir, founder and technical director at Opencentric, said.

“Our re-certification to Cyber Essentials reflects the way we embed security into everything we do at Opencentric; not as a compliance tick-box, but as a foundational discipline that protects our clients, our partners, and their users.

“Cyber Essentials has matured into one of the most effective tools available for protecting organisations against the majority of common cyber attacks. By focusing on the controls that genuinely matter, it provides a clear, evidence-based baseline that strengthens trust, resilience, and supply chains across the UK economy. As the National Cyber Security Centre has stated, if an organisation relies on the internet in any way, Cyber Essentials is the go-to tool.

“Maintaining Cyber Essentials, alongside Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001, ensures that security is built into our processes, regularly validated, and continuously improved.

“For our clients, many of whom operate business-critical, data-driven digital platforms, this provides assurance that security is proactive, proportionate, and aligned with recognised national and international standards."
